Our Story

Four Generations

Knowing your family history is important and could possibly be a factor in the difference between life and death.  After experiencing multiple cases of Breast Cancer in her family, Lynne recognized the importance of being diligent with her screenings. Following Lynne’s diagnosis, her doctor recommended undergoing testing for the BRCA genetic mutation, given her history of Breast Cancer in the family.  Testing for the BRCA genetic mutation proved to be a valuable decision, particularly regarding making informed choices about surgery. Upon receiving a positive result, it became clear that Lynne’s family had been grappling with an aggressive form of Breast Cancer. While the BRCA mutation is only responsible for a small percentage of Breast Cancer cases, it's crucial to test for it if there is a direct lineage of affected family members.  When an individual tests positive for a BRCA genetic mutation, all first-degree relatives must undergo the same testing. Lynne's daughter, Javalle, tested positive, and became more vigilant in her screenings, at 21 years old. Six years later, Javalle was diagnosed with Breast Cancer as well. Four generations of Breast Cancer in one family is a staggering statistic, one that can't be ignored.

Remember the Importance of Being Proactive in the Face of Adversity

"I Promise"

Lynne, the founder of Catch the Promise, is a creative individual with a passion for sharing important messages through various mediums such as songs, videos, plays, books, and documentaries. Her personal experience of witnessing the devastating impact of four generations of Breast Cancer within her family prompted her to create the song and video, "I Promise." This work serves as a call to action, encouraging individuals to become proactive advocates for their health.

The Impact of One's Life Can Endure Indefinitely

Gone Too Soon

Lynne's family has suffered greatly from the loss of her grandmother, mother, and two aunts – all to the same Breast Cancer battle. Her grandmother passed away at the young age of 35, while her mother and aunts lost their battles at ages 41, 40, and 56, respectively. It's crucial not to ignore situations like these and to take proactive measures.
